Indiana - Trinity's men's
basketball team suffered a 51-66 loss at DePauw University in Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday night.
Trinity (8-8, 3-3) trailed 24-36 at the half,
shooting less than 36% from the field in the opening period.
Trinity never led in the game as DePauw scored on the opening possession
and never looked back. DePauw had a 10-point lead built up in the
first five minutes of action, and went on a 14-2 run to start the game.
Trinity cut the lead to two (19-17) with just over
six minutes remaining in the half, but DePauw outscored the visitors by
10 the rest of the way.
In the second half, Trinity cut the lead to single
digits with 14:50 to play, but the team would get no closer the rest of
the game, and DePauw led by as many as 19 points.
Trinity was led by B.J. Moon's 10 points on 4-7
shooting, while Charles Houston and Mike Gilb chipped in with eight
points each.
Barrett Koch finished with a team-best three
assists, while Casey Hill's five rebounds were a team-high in the game.
Reid Sakel led DePauw with 13 points, while Brian
Oilar and Mike Moore each finished with nine points for the home team.
Stephen Schott finished with eight points and a game-high nine boards,
while Austin Brown had seven points and eight rebounds.
DePauw shot 42.1% for the game, hitting 24-57
field goals and 7-18 three-point tries. Trinity hit just 38.5%
from the field, making 20 total field goals - including just nine in the
second half. Trinity also hit just 3-14 from three-point range
(21.4%).
Trinity will travel to Danville, Kentucky for
another SCAC game tomorrow evening against Centre College. Trinity
returns home next weekend to face Sewanee and Oglethorpe.
