McMurry Defeats Trinity Tuesday Night

Abilene, Texas - Trinity's men's basketball team was unable to hold a halftime lead at McMurry University on Tuesday night, losing by the final score of 62-75.

Trinity (3-5) led 30-28 at the half, and led by as many as 11 points in the first period.  In the second half, the Tigers led most of the way, but could not pull away.  Trinity led 55-49 with 8:03 to play when McMurry went on a 7-1 run to tie the game.

The two teams stayed close over the next few minutes, trading leads back and forth to under five minutes.  With Trinity ahead 60-59 with 4:40 to play, McMurry closed the game with a 16-2 run that closed the door on the visiting Tigers.  Trinity went 1-8 shooting and committed five turnovers during that stretch.

B.J. Moon led Trinity with a career-high 18 points, hitting 4-7 three-pointers and 7-11 overall from the field.  Moon's previous career-high was 12 points against UMHB earlier this season.

Brandon York came off the bench to score 11 points, while Charles Houston finished with 10 points and four rebounds.  Casey Hill and Mike Gilb both came off the bench to chip in with six points, while Hill led the team with five rebounds.

McMurry's Alvin Stevens was 10-13 from the field, scoring a game-high 23 points.  Kenny Gardner was the only other McMurry player in double figures, hitting 5-8 shots for 10 points.  Bud Willis contributed eight points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Trinity returns to action - and to Abilene - on December 16, facing Hardin-Simmons University.  The team will then travel to Southwestern for a two-day tournament on December 29-30.
