Trinity Edged by Chicago at Home Tournament

San Antonio - The Tiger men's basketball team lost a close 57-60 game to the University of Chicago on Friday night at the Trinity/Southwestern Thanksgiving Classic.

Trinity (2-2) trailed 19-30 at the half, but fought back to give themselves a shot to tie the game at the end.  Patrick Robinson's three-pointer with one second left just missed, and the visiting Maroons avoided overtime.

The Tigers shot 42.9% (24-56) from the field in the game - including 17-30 shooting in the second half.  Chicago hit 44% (22-50) from the floor, as well as hitting 12-31 three-point shots.

Trinity's Casey Hill led all players with a career-high 23 points in the game, hitting 9-13 from the field and 3-3 from distance.  Hill also led the Tigers with eight rebounds in the game.

After a 7-26 shooting performance in the first half, the Tigers came out strong in the second - using a 13-2 run to tie the game at 32-32 with 15:11 remaining.  Chicago hit a pair of three-pointers on its next two possessions to push the lead back to six, then another three a few minutes later made it a 45-36 lead with 11:35 to play.

Each time Trinity climbed back into the game, the Maroons responded with a run to pull back in front.  The Tigers were down nine with 3:36 to play, but scored seven unanswered to pull to within two with just under a minute remaining.  Chicago then hit one of two free throws to make it 60-57 with 31 seconds left.

Hill had a mid-range jumper to make it a one-point game on the next possession, but he couldn't get it to fall.  Chicago then missed the front end of a 1-and-1 to set up Robinson's last-second shot that bounced off the rim.

Mike Gilb finished with nine points and six rebounds - including five on the offensive end - hitting 4-11 shots for the Tigers.  Barrett Koch and Charles Houston both finished with six points and six rebounds, while Brandon York chipped in with six points and a game-high four assists.

Chicago was led by Brandon Woodhead's 16 points on 6-10 shooting (4-8 threes), and Drew Adams came off the bench to hit 4-7 three-point shots on his way to a 14-point night.

Trinity will face Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham tomorrow night, while Chicago takes on Southwestern University.  FDU-Florham defeated Southwestern 84-75 earlier this evening.
