- Trinity's men's basketball team earned a thrilling 82-77 double
overtime win over DePauw University at the SCAC Tournament on Friday
afternoon.
Trinity (18-8) trailed 29-37 at the half, despite
going through a long scoring drought in the first period. DePauw
scored 20 unanswered points in the period, but a late run by Trinity cut
the lead to single digits by the break.
While DePauw had the hot hand in the first half,
hitting 16-29 (55.2%) from the field, it was Trinity that hit 16-29
(55.2%) after halftime to snag the victory.
Barrett Koch led Trinity with a career-high 21
points in the game, hitting 8-12 from the field and 5-6 from the foul
line. Koch also grabbed six rebounds and played in 41 minutes.
B.J. Moon scored 20 points for Trinity, hitting
7-14 from the field and 3-6 from the three-point line. He was the
only player on his team to score a three-point basket, and also grabbed
three steals to go with his game-high 46 minutes played.
Charles Houston finished with a solid 14 points
and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season, while Luke
Caldarera finished with 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Nick Polidoroff chipped in with eight points and seven boards as well.
DePauw's Mike Moore led all scorers with 24
points, also dishing out a game-best seven assists. Brian Oilar
finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Trinity will face off against SCAC East Division
top seed Centre College in the SCAC Semifinals tomorrow afternoon.
Centre, which is ranked second in the nation, beat Trinity in overtime
earlier this season. |
