San Antonio -
Trinity's men's basketball team opened up its Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference schedule with an 87-60 win over Austin College on
Friday night.
Trinity (5-0, 1-0 SCAC) led 39-23 at the half and
never looked back. The Tigers shot over 50% in both periods,
holding Austin College under 30% shooting for the game.
The game remained close for much of the first
half, and Trinity was ahead 24-23 with 6:56 to play until halftime.
It was then that the Tigers turned up the intensity, finishing the
period on a 15-0 run.
Opening the second half, Trinity's Patrick
Robinson (pictured at right) hit a pair of three-point buckets to push
the lead to 22 with just 51 seconds gone, effectively sealing the
victory.
Robinson led all scorers with a career-high 18 points in the
game, hitting 4-7 three-pointers and 7-11 field goals overall. His
seven field goals made also ties his career high.
B.J. Moon added 12 points on 4-8 shooting, dishing
out six assists in the game. Charles Houston chipped in with seven
points and a team-best eight rebounds.
Luke Caldarera (pictured bottom right) came off
the bench to score 12 points on 5-7 shooting for the Tigers, as well as
pulling down seven boards in his 18 minutes of action.
Darsh Singh and Dwight Lutz both hit two
three-pointers off the bench, with Singh totaling a career-best eight points and four
rebounds to go with his three assists and two steals.
Terrance Teague led Austin College with 15 points,
while Kola Alade finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Teague hit 4-9 from three-point range and kept the visitors in the game
early.
Trinity will face Colorado College on Sunday
afternoon to finish the weekend of SCAC action. Colorado College
lost to Southwestern in Georgetown, Texas tonight.
