- Trinity's men's basketball team lost 54-58 to Birmingham-Southern
College on Sunday afternoon, finishing off a weekend of SCAC play.
Trinity (12-3) lost for the second time in four
games on Sunday, despite holding a 25-21 lead at halftime. The
Tigers also led by as many as 12 points in the first half, hitting 45.8%
from the field.
After a 21-9 start for Trinity,
Birmingham-Southern went on a 9-1 run over the final minutes of the
first half to cut the lead down to four at the break. The visitors
then shot over 60% in the second half to pull off the victory in the
first meeting between the two teams.
The Tigers did manage a three-pointer with 10
seconds left that cut the deficit to just one at 54-55, but
Birmingham-Southern hit 3-4 from the line to finish out the game and
seal the win.
Patrick Robinson led the team in scoring for the
seventh straight game, finishing with 12 points and a career-high three
steals.
Charles Houston added eight points and seven
rebounds, while B.J. Moon scored seven points and dished out four
assists.
Aaron Parr led Birmingham-Southern with 16 points
on 6-9 shooting - including 3-6 from three-point range. Daniel
Hudson and Nathan West added 12 points each for BSC.
Trinity will be on the road next weekend, facing
off against Oglethorpe and Sewanee on Friday and Saturday. The
Tigers return home on February 1 to face Centre, then take on DePauw on
February 2.
