Trinity Rebounds With Win Over CSU-East Bay

Georgetown, Texas - After losing its first game of the season on Monday night, Trinity's men's basketball team rebounded with a 59-47 win over California State University-East Bay on Tuesday.

Trinity (7-1) and CSU-East Bay were tied 25-25 at the half.  The Tigers held East Bay to just 33% shooting in the second half to propel the team to victory, also aided by the offense hitting 11-21 field goals and 10-15 free throws in the period.

East Bay came out firing on all cylinders early, taking a 15-5 lead in the opening minutes of the game.  Trinity came to life after that though, putting together a 13-3 run that tied the game with 5:11 remaining.  East Bay's layup in the final seconds tied the game at the half.

After allowing East Bay to score the first three points of the second half, Trinity then went on a 10-0 run to take the lead and take control of the game.  The Tigers built that lead to 12 with 10:18 to play, but East Bay rallied to within three with a 9-0 run.  Trinity kept its cool, hitting 2-3 free throws and two field goals in the next 2:30 to push the lead back to seven points and effectively seal the win.

B.J. Moon led the team in scoring for the third straight game, scoring 21 points on 7-14 shooting.  Charles Houston added 11 points, six rebounds, and six steals for the Tigers.

Barrett Koch chipped in with eight points off the bench, while Patrick Robinson scored five points in 16 minutes of action.

Trinity will return to action December 29-30 at the Trinity/Southwestern Holiday Classic.  The Tigers will face Wabash and Ohio Northern on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
