Conway, Arkansas
- Trinity's men's basketball team earned its first SCAC road victory
of the year with a convincing 75-50 win over Hendrix College on Friday
night.
Trinity (10-1, 3-0) led 39-23 at the half, putting
forth a dominating effort both offensively and defensively. The
Tigers hit 17-30 (56.7%) from the field, while also holding Hendrix to
just 7-33 (21.2%) shooting. Hendrix didn't shoot much better in
the second half, connecting on just six total field goals, while Trinity
cooled off to under 40% for the final 20 minutes.
Hendrix held a slight 8-4 advantage early on, but
the two teams played a fairly close game through the first few minutes
of the game. Trinity led 18-15 with under 10 minutes to play in
the half, then used an 8-0 run to push the lead to double digits.
Hendrix would get no closer than eight points for the remainder of the
contest.
Patrick Robinson led Trinity in scoring for the
third straight game, posting a career-high 21 points on 8-10 shooting
against Hendrix. Robinson hit 3-3 from three-point range for the
Tigers.
B.J. Moon added 13 points, three assists, and a
career-best four steals for Trinity. Charles Houston chipped in
with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Nick Polidoroff added 11 points and a team-best
nine boards, narrowly missing a double-double. His nine rebounds
tied his career high, a total he has reached now three times this
season.
Andrew King led Hendrix with 27 points and 13
rebounds, connecting on 8-16 field goals and 11-16 foul shots.
King was the only Hendrix player in double figures, and the home team
falls to 6-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play. King also became
the 67th player in SCAC history to score 1,000 or more points in a
career.
Trinity will face Millsaps College tomorrow night
in Jackson, Mississippi. The game features the last two remaining
teams in the SCAC West Division, meaning the winner will be in first
place in the standings.
