- Trinity's men's basketball team finished off the
Trinity/Southwestern Holiday Classic with a 75-58 win over Ohio Northern
University on Sunday afternoon.
Trinity (9-1) led 43-28 at the half, closing the
opening period on a 17-2 run over the final 6:01. After giving up
a basket to open the second half, the Tigers then scored 10 more
unanswered points to push the lead to 53-30 less than five minutes into
the period.
Ohio Northern cut the lead to 19 with four
straight points after that, but the visitors would get no closer until
the final minute when the team hit the game's final basket.
Patrick Robinson was named the Tournament MVP,
scoring 17 points on 7-12 shooting in today's game. He also had 14
points in 18 minutes in yesterday's win over Wabash. Nick
Polidoroff was also selected to the All-Tournament Team for his weekend.
Polidoroff had 14 points and nine rebounds yesterday, then finished with
six points and five rebounds in 17 minutes against Ohio Northern.
B.J. Moon and Dwight Lutz also scored in double
figures, adding 13 and 10 points, respectively. Moon hit 4-8 from
the field - including a buzzer-beating three-pointer to finish the first
half. Lutz also hit a pair of threes in 13 minutes off the bench.
Luke Caldarera chipped in with nine points and
seven rebounds, while Charles Houston led the team with eight boards in
today's win.
Kyle Gehle scored 24 points for Ohio Northern,
while Jake Cannan added 10 points and five rebounds. Both players
were also named to the All-Tournament team, as well Southwestern's Matt
Caplan and Wabash's Earl Rooks.
Trinity resumes Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference play next weekend, travelling to Hendrix and Millsaps on
Friday and Saturday nights.
