- Trinity's men's basketball team opened up the Southwestern/Trinity
Holiday Classic with an 83-52 win over Lakeland College on Thursday
night at Southwestern University.
Trinity (7-1) secured its sixth straight win,
hitting 48.4% from the field and holding Lakeland to less than 32%
shooting in the game. The Tigers led 39-27 at halftime, sparked by
a 12-2 run midway through the first period.
Starting off the second half, Trinity went on a
10-0 run that pushed the lead up over 20 points. The Tigers hit
nearly 60% from the field in the final 20 minutes, closing out the
victory.
B.J. Moon led the team by nearly recording a
triple-double. Moon had 13 points, seven assists, and six steals,
hitting 5-8 from the field. Charles Houston also finished with 13
points to go with a team-best seven rebounds and five steals.
Luke Caldarera scored 10 points in just 18
minutes, while Dwight Lutz came off the bench to chip in with 11 points
in 16 minutes of play.
Michael Tobolowsky finished with seven points and
six boards, while Peter Garatoni also pulled down six rebounds.
Patrick Robinson chipped in with seven points and four rebounds.
Lakeland was led by 13 points and seven rebounds
from Jake Schwarz, while Pete Worth finished with nine points and eight
boards. Lakeland was held to just 16 total field goals in the
game.
Trinity will face Marian University tomorrow
evening at 5:00 p.m., finishing off its part in the tournament.
The Tigers return home on December 31, hosting SUNY Institute of
Technology at 4:00 p.m. |
