San Antonio -
Trinity's men's soccer team, ranked No. 1 in Division III, will host the
University of Texas-Dallas in the first round of the NCAA playoffs on
Wednesday.
Trinity (18-0) won its sixth
consecutive SCAC Championship to earn the automatic bid to the
postseason, which is the sixth straight year that the Tigers have been
selected for the championship tournament.
The game will kick off at 6:00
p.m. on Wednesday evening, and will be a rematch of an early season
matchup that resulted in a 5-0 win for Trinity. Ticket prices for
the game are $6.00 for adults/general admission, $3.00 for students, and
$2.00 for children under 12 (children under two are free). Prices
are set by the minimum requirements of the NCAA for the playoffs.
Patrick Floeck leads the
Tigers with 15 goals this season, hitting four game-winners and also
adding three assists for a total of 33 points. German Gomez is
second with 23 total points (nine goals, five assists), while Ben
Stewart has four goals and a team-best 14 assists this season.
Robert C'deBaca, who hit an
overtime goal against Southwestern in the regular season finale, leads
the team with five game-winning goals this year, totaling seven goals
and seven assists overall.
Head Coach Paul McGinlay is in
his 17th season with the Tigers, totaling a record of 277-53-19 since
1991. McGinlay has led the team to 11 conference titles and 11
postseason appearances. He led the 2003 team to a 24-0-0 record
and the NCAA Division III National Championship.
