Trinity Hosts UT-Dallas in Playoff Opener

San Antonio - Trinity's men's soccer team, ranked No. 1 in Division III, will host the University of Texas-Dallas in the first round of the NCAA playoffs on Wednesday.

Trinity (18-0) won its sixth consecutive SCAC Championship to earn the automatic bid to the postseason, which is the sixth straight year that the Tigers have been selected for the championship tournament.

The game will kick off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, and will be a rematch of an early season matchup that resulted in a 5-0 win for Trinity.  Ticket prices for the game are $6.00 for adults/general admission, $3.00 for students, and $2.00 for children under 12 (children under two are free).  Prices are set by the minimum requirements of the NCAA for the playoffs.

Patrick Floeck leads the Tigers with 15 goals this season, hitting four game-winners and also adding three assists for a total of 33 points.  German Gomez is second with 23 total points (nine goals, five assists), while Ben Stewart has four goals and a team-best 14 assists this season.

Robert C'deBaca, who hit an overtime goal against Southwestern in the regular season finale, leads the team with five game-winning goals this year, totaling seven goals and seven assists overall.

Head Coach Paul McGinlay is in his 17th season with the Tigers, totaling a record of 277-53-19 since 1991.  McGinlay has led the team to 11 conference titles and 11 postseason appearances.  He led the 2003 team to a 24-0-0 record and the NCAA Division III National Championship.
