Trinity's men's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over the University of
Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Sectionals at
Washington (MO) University.
Trinity (21-0) led 2-1 at the
half, which turned out to be all the scoring for the game. The
Tigers out-shot Oshkosh 21-7 in the game.
Noe Casanova started the
scoring with a goal in the 18th minute of play, assisted by Joe Houchins.
It was the eighth goal of the year for Casanova. The half was less
than 15 minutes away when Alex Minten tied the game for Oshkosh on a
header.
The Tigers then had a free
kick set up 30 yards from goal. Casanova put the ball in to
Petrakis, who scored on a header in the 40th minute.
The goal was the eventual
game-winner, sending Trinity to its second appearance in the NCAA
Quarterfinals in three years.
Trinity will face Washington
(MO) University tomorrow for the chance to go to the Division III Final
Four next weekend in Orlando, Florida.
