San Antonio -
Trinity's men's soccer team defeated Pacific Lutheran University 3-1 on
Sunday afternoon, finishing off the opening weekend of the 2007 season.
Trinity (2-0) scored twice in
the first half, then increased the lead to three goals just 1:33 into
the second period. Pacific Lutheran got on the board in the 52nd
minute, but could muster no more against the Tigers.
Patrick Floeck opened the
scoring with a goal in the ninth minute, then added another score early
in the second half.
Noe Casanova and Kyle Altman
both assisted on the first Floeck goal - off of a corner kick - and
Altman also assisted on Floeck's second goal.
Sophomore Chris Schardon
scored his first career goal in the 39th minute of the game, with Tyrone
Petrakis assisting.
Trinity out-shot Pacific
Lutheran 20-10, and held a 9-5 edge in corner kicks.
The Tigers travel to UT-Dallas
for a pair of games next weekend. Trinity faces UT-Dallas on
Friday, then takes on Hardin-Simmons on Saturday evening.
