The Trinity Tigers men, ranked
No. 25 in the NCAA Division III, shut out the host Hardin-Simmons
Cowboys 4-0 Friday at the American Southwest Conference-Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference Challenge.
Trinity (3-1-0),
which scored three first-half goals, next meets UT-Dallas at 3 p.m.
Saturday.
Tiger sophomore
midfielder Chesley Farmer scored two goals, firing in one during each
half. Farmer’s first goal, a solo shot, came in the 26th minute. The
second goal by Farmer was in the 70th minute, as sophomore midfielder
Aaron Olson assisted.
The opening goal
was by junior midfielder Tommy Barros in the 14th minute, as
sophomore midfielder Nima Naderi registered his first of two assists.
Senior defender
Alan Llobet scored in the 33rd minute, with the assist from Naderi.
Junior goalkeeper
Patrick Johnson picked up five saves, in 74 minutes, 30 seconds of play.
Sophomore Jacob Truitt took over for the final 15:30 and had two saves.
Trinity led 16-11
in shots and the two teams tied in shots on goal, at seven apiece. The
Tigers held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks. |
