Trinity Defeats Colorado College in Second Overtime

 

Colorado Springs, Colorado - The Trinity Tigers men edged the Colorado College Tigers 1-0 Sunday in a double-overtime SCAC game.

Trinity junior midfielder Tommy Barros scored the winning goal 5 minutes, 1 second (106th minute) into the second overtime period, on an assist from senior forward Ben Grossman, who crossed the ball on the ground. It marked the second goal of the season for Barros, and his second game-winner. Grossman picked up his second assist of the year.

The defending conference champion Trinity Tigers, ranked No. 12 in the NCAA Division III, now stand at 6-1-0 and 2-0-0 SCAC. The Tigers  won their sixth straight game and registered their fourth consecutive shutout (fifth overall).

Senior goalkeeper Patrick Johnson had five saves in the game, and upped his total to 19.

Trinity led 16-11 in shots and 11-3 in corner kicks.

The Tigers will host Rowan (N.J.) next Saturday at 7 p.m. and the University of the Incarnate Word Monday, Sept. 28, also at 7.
