Tigers Open SCAC Weekend With Shutout Win Over Centre

 

San Antonio - Junior midfielder Tommy Barros scored the game-winning goal as the Trinity Tigers beat the Centre College Colonels 1-0 Friday night in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game.

The Tigers, ranked No. 10 in the nation, improved to 9-1-2 and 4-0-0 SCAC. Centre now stands at 10-4-2 and 4-2-1 SCAC.

Barros scored the unassisted goal in the 81st minute of the game, played on the opening night of Trinity Soccer Family Weekend. It marked Barros’ fourth goal of the season and his third game-winner.

Senior goalkeeper Patrick Johnson registered one save in the contest.

Trinity led Centre 18-1 in total shots, and 4-1 in shots on goal. The Tigers had 10 corner kicks, to one for the Colonels.

The Tigers, defending conference champions, will host DePauw in an SCAC game Sunday. The starting time has been moved to 11 a.m.
