- The Trinity Tigers men’s
soccer team, ranked No. 6 in the nation, remained undefeated in Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 shutout Friday over the
Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels.
Trinity, the
defending conference champion, improved to 12-1-2 overall and 7-0-0 SCAC.
The Tigers registered their 10th shutout of the season.
The game was
scoreless in the first half, but senior midfielder Andrew Chong put the
Tigers on the board in the 48th minute, with an assist from junior
defender Grant Shopoff. Chong scored his first goal of the season, and
Shopoff had his first assist.
Senior defender
Alan Llobet scored his fourth goal of the campaign, in the 65th minute.
First-year forward Alan Castillejos dished out his third assist of the
season.
Sophomore
midfielder Clay Middleton put the finishing touches on the game, with an
unassisted goal in the 87th minute. It marked Middleton’s first goal
this year.
The Tigers
completely dominated the stats, leading Oglethorpe 20-1 in shots, 9-0 in
shots on goal, and 6-0 in corner kicks. Trinity will take on Sewanee:
