Top-Ranked Trinity Defeats No. 23 DePauw

San Antonio - The Trinity men's soccer team, ranked No. 1 in Division III, handed 23rd-ranked DePauw University 3-0 on Friday evening.

Trinity (14-0, 6-0) led 1-0 at the half behind a goal from All-American Tyrone Petrakis in the 21st minute.  Petrakis added a second goal in the 68th minute, scoring twice on just four total shots.

Trinity out-shot DePauw 39-7 in the game, with David Steinberg recording his third shutout of the season.  Steinberg recorded two saves in the game, including a stop on a penalty kick to preserve the shutout.

Ben Stewart and Noe Casanova assisted on the goals by Petrakis, then Stewart added another assist for the game's final score - a goal by Matt Beham on a corner kick.  Stewart moves into third place on Trinity's career assists list with the points.

DePauw and Trinity both came into the game with unblemished 5-0-0 records in SCAC play, but Trinity took over sole possession of first place with the win - as well as Centre's loss at Southwestern this afternoon.

Trinity will host Centre on Sunday afternoon to finish off a very tough weekend.  Centre came into the weekend ranked 10th nationally.
