Trinity Hands Methodist its First Loss

San Antonio - Trinity's men's soccer team handed Methodist (NC) University its first loss of the 2007 season in a 6-1 decision on Friday night.

Trinity (5-0-0) scored three goals in each half, and held a 6-0 lead before allowing a goal in the 65th minute.

Patrick Floeck scored his first career hat trick to lead the Tigers to victory.  It was the sixth multi-goal game of his career - including his second this season.  His first goal turned out to be the game-winner, and came in the 11th minute.

Noe Casanova also added a pair of goals, scoring an electrifying goal in the third minute on an assist from Floeck.  Casanova weaved in and out of defenders on the left side of goal, then passed off to Floeck, who hit Casanova on a give-and-go move that led to the opening score.

German Gomez scored the third goal of the game on an assist from Matt Beham with just under seven minutes left in the first period.

Floeck scored his second and third goals less than six minutes into the second period, assisted by Robbie C'deBaca and Ben Stewart.  Just 31 seconds after Floeck secured the hat trick, Casanova hit his second on another assist by Ben Stewart.

Trinity out-shot Methodist 32-2 in the game.

The Tigers, ranked No. 1 in the latest NSCAA poll, will host No. 11 Washington (MO) University tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
