DeCosta's Hat Trick Leads Trinity Past Oglethorpe

Atlanta, Georgia - Trinity's Joseph DeCosta, making his first career start, buried three goals to lead Trinity to a 6-1 win over Oglethorpe University on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (17-0-0, 9-0-0) held a narrow 2-1 lead at halftime after Oglethorpe scored with just 19 seconds left until the break.  The win clinches the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship for the Tigers, which is their sixth consecutive title.

Less than five minutes into the second period, DeCosta scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-1, then finished off the hat trick just over three minutes later to put the game out of reach.  He also scored the game's opening goal in the 7th minute.

After DeCosta's first goal, Robert C'deBaca scored the eventual game-winner just 46 seconds later on an assist from Ben Stewart.  Stewart got two assists on the day, tying him with Scott Mury on Trinity's career assists list.  He now needs four more to tie Alex Woods for the record.

Leading scorer Patrick Floeck scored his third goal of the weekend in the second half on Sunday, then first-year Cameron Hogsett capped the scoring in the 81st minute.  Kyle Altman also had two assists for the Tigers.

Trinity will host Southwestern University in the regular season finale on Friday night, and the top-ranked Tigers will be looking to finish off the regular season with an unblemished record.
