Early Spurt Pushes Trinity Past Sewanee

 

Sewanee, Tennessee - Trinity's men's soccer team used an early scoring burst to surge past the University of the South-Sewanee on Friday night.

Trinity (16-0-0, 8-0-0) led 4-0 at the half, with three of those goals coming in a span of less than five minutes early in the period.

Patrick Floeck scored the first and second goals of the game just 72 seconds apart in the 11th and 12th minutes, followed by a goal at 14:54 by Thomas Owens for which Floeck earned the assist. 

Joseph DeCosta in the 41st minute to put Trinity ahead by four.  Sewanee got on the board early in the second half, but Joe Houchins buried a David Anderson corner in the 77th minute to finish off the night's scoring.

Owens, Casanova, and Ben Stewart all earned assists as well.  Stewart inches closer to the school assists record of 38 by Alex Woods, needing six more to tie the mark.

Trinity will cap its final road game of the regular season with a Sunday afternoon tilt at Oglethorpe University.
