DelaFuente Falls in Singles at
ITA National Small College Championships
Trinity men's tennis player Erick DelaFuente
lost in the play-in round of the ITA National
Small College Singles Championships.
Trinity women's tennis player Katy Poettcker won
the play-in match to advance to the main draw of
the ITA National Small College Championships,
but lost in the opening round to Laura Chen of
Carnegie Mellon. Poettcker and Thavindra
Ekanayake also lost in doubles.

DelaFuente won the singles title Monday at the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southwest
Region Division III Men’s Tennis Championships
at the University of Texas-Dallas. The
two-time defending doubles champions, Bobby
Cocanougher and Cory Kowal, lost in the finals
today.

men's tennis assistant coach Russell McMindes
has been chosen as the ITA Division III West
Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
McMindes, a former Tiger standout who was a
member of the 2000 NCAA Championship team, is
finishing off his seventh year as an assistant
coach.

Weather
This weekend’s
Trinity SCAC tennis matches have been canceled
because of weather damage at the Austin College
facilities. The Tigers were scheduled to
play Colorado College today, and Southwestern
University and host Austin College on Saturday.
Instead, weather conditions permitting, the
Tiger men and women will play Southwestern at
1:00 p.m. today in Georgetown, Texas.
