Trinity Rebounds With Win Over Mary Washington

 

St. Peter, Minnesota – After losing in yesterday's opening round of the ITA Indoor National Championships, the Trinity men's tennis team rebounded with a 6-3 win over Mary Washington College on Saturday morning at Gustavus Adolphus.

Trinity (3-3) took two of three doubles matches, then won four of six singles matches to secure the win, and ensure the team a spot in tonight's Fifth Place match. 

Oliver Gaines and Ryan DeSantis won 8-2 at No.1 doubles, while David Tran and Crisanto Ramirez earned a narrow 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles. 

Gaines then earned a straight set victory at No. 1 singles.  James Furr and Tran also won in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, while Varun Munjal won 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 5 singles.  Tran improves to 6-0 in singles with the win.

Trinity will take on Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe DePauw University in tonight's match, with the winner earning fifth place overall at the tournament.
