Trinity Caps Weekend With Win Over Pacific Lutheran

Claremont, California – Trinity's men's tennis team capped a three-day weekend in California with an 8-1 win over Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday.

Trinity (10-3) won for the seventh time in its last eight matches, losing only one singles match in today's competition.  The win was also the third in four neutral site matches for the Tigers.

David Tran improved to 11-1 in singles play with the win, while James Furr is second on the team with a 9-3 singles record this season.  Furr has also won seven of his last eight matches, matching the overall team's performance of late.

Tran bounced back from a 7-5 opening set loss to Pacific Lutheran's Justin Larimore, taking the next two sets 6-3 and 10-6.

Oliver Gaines and Ryan DeSantis pulled off a narrow 9-8 victory at No. 1 doubles, and DeSantis earned a win at No. 6 singles - his first singles competition of the season.

Trinity will return to action on April 6 at the University of Incarnate Word.  The Tigers return home the next day against Tyler Junior College.  The match with UIW begins at 10:00 a.m., while the Tyler home contest will start at 9:00 a.m.
