Trinity's men's tennis team capped a three-day weekend in California
with an 8-1 win over Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday.
Trinity (10-3) won for the seventh time in its last
eight matches, losing only one singles match in today's competition.
The win was also the third in four neutral site matches for the Tigers.
David Tran improved to 11-1 in singles play with
the win, while James Furr is second on the team with a 9-3 singles
record this season. Furr has also won seven of his last eight
matches, matching the overall team's performance of late.
Tran bounced back from a 7-5 opening set loss to
Pacific Lutheran's Justin Larimore, taking the next two sets 6-3 and
10-6.
Oliver Gaines and Ryan DeSantis pulled off a
narrow 9-8 victory at No. 1 doubles, and DeSantis earned a win at No. 6
singles - his first singles competition of the season.
Trinity will return to action on April 6 at the
University of Incarnate Word. The Tigers return home the next day
against Tyler Junior College. The match with UIW begins at 10:00
a.m., while the Tyler home contest will start at 9:00 a.m. |
