February 23, 2007 Tigers Fall to UC-Santa Cruz to Open ITA Indoors

Trinity's men's tennis team opened play at the ITA Indoor National
Championships with a 7-2 loss to UC-Santa Cruz on Friday at Gustavus
Adolphus College. Trinity (3-2) won one match in both singles and doubles on the day. Top doubles team Oliver Gaines and Ryan DeSantis won 8-5, while David Tran won in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) at No. 4 singles. The Tigers did take three other singles matches to a third set, losing narrowly in each one. Tran's win pushed his season record to 5-0 in singles. Trinity will face Mary Washington College in the Consolation Semifinals tomorrow morning, with the winner advancing to the 5th place match tomorrow night. |
