Tigers Edge Incarnate Word After Long Layoff

 

San Antonio – After 11 days without outside competition, the Trinity men's tennis team earned a narrow 5-4 win over the University of Incarnate Word on Friday afternoon.

Trinity (11-3) took the early lead with wins in two of the three doubles matches, then split the singles competition to take the narrow victory.

David Tran improved to 12-1 in singles play with his win at No. 4, while Varun Munjal pushed his record to 11-3 with a win at the No. 5 spot.

James Furr and D.J. Petros won for the 10th time in 13 tries at No. 2 doubles, while Tran and Crisanto Ramirez earned an 8-5 win at No. 3 to win their 10th doubles match.  Ramirez also won at No. 6 singles 6-2, 6-1.

Trinity returns home next weekend to take on Southwestern University and Austin College in the regular season home finales for the Tigers.
