The Tiger men's tennis team bounced back from yesterday's loss to defeat
the University of Redlands 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity (9-3) won two out of three doubles matches,
as well as four of the six singles contests. The Tigers, ranked
seventh in Division III, won over Redlands for the first time in four
years. Redlands is ranked 12th nationally.
D.J. Petros won a thrilling 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 match
at No. 2 singles, as well as securing an 8-5 win in doubles play with
James Furr. Furr was beaten in straight sets in his singles match,
snapping his personal singles win streak at six.
Varun Munjal won for the fifth straight time in
singles, taking a 6-4, 6-4 win at the No. 5 spot. David Tran
improved his record to 10-1 this season, and leads the team in singles
victories.
Trinity will face Pacific Lutheran University in
Claremont, California tomorrow to wrap up the weekend road trip.
The Lutes are ranked 20th in Division III. |
