Trinity's men's tennis team earned a 5-4 decision to slip past
Bowdoin College in the semifinals of the Stag-Hen Classic on Friday
morning.
Trinity (9-3), the
eighth-ranked team in the nation, won all three doubles matches, but
was able to secure just two wins in singles play.
Crisanto Ramirez won at No.
6 singles for the second time this weekend, and was the team's only
straight-set winner in singles.
David Tran also won in
singles, earning a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 victory to help clinch
the match for the Tigers. Tran also teamed with James Furr to
win at No. 2 doubles by a score of 9-7.
Oliver Gaines and Ryan
DeSantis won at the top spot in doubles, while Bobby Cocanaugher and
Cory Kowal took their second doubles win of the weekend.
Trinity will face Kenyon
College in the championship match of the tournament later this
evening. Kenyon defeated hosting Claremont to advance to face
the Tigers.
