Jonathan Alden
Wins Individual Title; Men's Team Finishes Third

Trinity University senior
Jonathan Alden of Austin (Westlake) won the first playoff hole and
the individual title Tuesday at the TLU (Texas Lutheran University)
John Bohmann Memorial Tournament at Golf Club of Seguin.
Alden made a par on
the first playoff hole (No. 1), while Brock Crosson of
UT-Brownsville bogeyed. Each golfer finished with 7-under par 209s
in regulation, at the 54-hole tournament. Alden shot a final-round
5-under 67 and Crosson made a 3-under 69 on the final day of play.
In the first two rounds on Monday, Alden shot a 1-under 71 in each
round. Crosson shot a par-72 in the opener and was 4-under in the
second round.
The Tigers finished
third as a team with an 866 (291-290-285), behind the winner,
UT-Brownsville (849) and runner-up Hardin-Simmons (864). Mary
Hardin-Baylor placed fourth (872), Southwestern was fifth (880),
McMurry came in at No. 6 (882), Texas Lutheran was seventh 897) and
UT-Dallas placed eighth (899). Rounding out the tournament, in
places 9-12, respectively, were Concordia (906), Mary Hardin-Baylor
“B” (911), Texas Lutheran “B” (917) and Texas A&M International
(934).
Sophomore golfer
Ryan Barry of San Diego (Torrey Pines) shot a 3-under 69 Tuesday for
a 1-over 217 and a tie for 12th place. First-year Warren
Taylor of Newton, Pa. (Peddie), was 3-over 75 (7-over 217) and a tie
for 27th place. Senior Nash Kassam of Vancouver, British
Columbia (St. George’s), registered a 2-over 74 for an 8-over 224,
tying for 29th place. Playing as an individual, senior
Chase Clayton of Bakersfield, Calif. (Garces Memorial), tied for 29th
shooting a final-round 3-over 75 (8-over 224 total). Senior player
Peter Senior of Sherman Oaks, Calif. (Campbell Hall), tied for the
No. 35 slot with a 6-over 78 (10-over 226).
The Tigers will
compete Sept. 28 and 29 at the 54-hole St. Mary’s Invitational, at
San Antonio’s Dominion Country Club. |
