Trinity's John Matthews and D.J. Petros were both eliminated in singles
and doubles NCAA Quarterfinal action on Sunday afternoon.
Matthews was beaten by Middlebury's Nate Edmunds in
the singles competition 6-4, 7-5, 7-6. Matthews won in both first
and second round competition yesterday.
Matthews then joined with Petros in the doubles
quarterfinals, but the pair was beaten by Emory's team of Goodwin/Masuoka.
Matthews and Petros won the opening set 7-6 (5), but fell 6-1, 6-2 in
the final two sets to lose the match.
Trinity's team advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals
as well, losing to Middlebury this past Wednesday. Head Coach
Butch Newman has led the Tigers to their fifth straight - and 13th
overall - trip to the quarterfinals. |
