The Tiger men's tennis team defeated Pacific Lutheran in the NCAA West
Region playoffs on Sunday afternoon, advancing to the NCAA
Quarterfinals. Trinity won the match 4-0,
with play being stopped after the match had been decided.. Doubles
team Oliver Gaines and Ryan DeSantis clinched the doubles point at No. 2
doubles, which followed a win at No. 3 doubles by Stu Row and James Furr.
In singles, Furr made it 2-0 in Trinity's favor by
winning 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, and then D.J. Petros clinched No. 4 singles
with a 6-4, 6-2 win. John Matthews clinched the match with a 6-4,
6-3 win at No. 1 singles, winning on a nice backhand winner down the
line.
Trinity advances to the NCAA Championships at the
University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on May 17.
