Trinity's men's tennis team won its sixth consecutive match with a 7-2
road victory over Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday.
Trinity (14-3) swept the three doubles matches, then
won four out of six singles matches to secure the regular-season-ending
win. Hardin-Simmons falls to 12-6 with the loss.
David Tran kept ahead of Varun Munjal for the team
lead in singles wins this season, as both players earned straight-set
wins. Tran is now 14-1 in singles play, while Munjal is 13-3.
James Furr and D.J. Petros are tied with Tran and
Crisanto Ramirez with 12 doubles wins this season, but Furr and Petros
have only lost three times - compared to four losses for Tran and
Ramirez.
Ramirez and Petros also won their singles matches,
while Oliver Gaines and Ryan DeSantis won at No. 1 doubles to improve to
11-5 as a team.
Trinity will play in the SCAC Championships next
weekend in Waco, Texas. The Tigers will likely be the top seed in
the tournament, which runs from April 27-29, and will decide the
conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs. |
