Trinity Sweeps Hardin-Simmons and McMurry Saturday


San Antonio – The Tiger men's tennis team swept a pair of Saturday afternoon matches at Delavan Tennis Stadium, beating Hardin-Simmons 9-0 and McMurry 8-1.

Trinity (5-3) is ranked ninth nationally and third in the West Region.  Hardin-Simmons is the seventh-ranked team in the region.

The Tigers won all six doubles matches on the day, losing just one singles match overall.  Crisanto Ramirez and Varun Munjal won both of their singles matches of the day - including a win at No. 1 singles against McMurry for Munjal. 

Oliver Gaines and Ryan DeSantis won 8-3 and 8-4 in their two doubles matches at the No. 1 position, while James Furr and David Tran won 8-6 and 8-1 against Hardin-Simmons and McMurry, respectively. 

ITA Regional Doubles Champions Cory Kowal and Bobby Cocanaugher won 8-2 over Hardin-Simmons, then beat McMurry 8-3.

Trinity will host Millsaps at 9:00 a.m. next Saturday (March 8), followed by a 2:00 p.m. match against Division II Incarnate Word the same day.
