Trinity's men's tennis team began its part in the Stag-Hen Classic
with a 5-4 win over the College of New Jersey on Friday afternoon.
Trinity (8-3) is ranked
eighth in Division III, according to the latest poll by the
Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The Tigers won two of the
three doubles matches, then split with TCNJ in the singles draw.
James Furr and David Tran won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, then both
players won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
Bobby Cocanaugher and Cory
Kowal also won 8-4 in doubles at the No. 3 position, but Cocanaugher
lost a tough three-set match at No. 5 singles (6-4, 4-6, 6-4).
Crisanto Ramirez took a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles for the
Tigers.
Trinity will face Bowdoin
College tomorrow morning in the semifinals of the tournament.
Bowdoin defeated Pomona-Pitzer to advance in the tournament.
