Trinity's men's tennis team took fifth place at the ITA National Indoor
Championships on Saturday night, beating the University of Mary
Washington 7-2 at Gustavus Adolphus. Trinity
(3-3) won two out of three doubles contests, then won five singles
matches to take the victory.
James Furr and David Tran won at No. 2 and No. 3
singles, respectively, and also teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles.
Bobby Cocanaugher and Cory Kowal won for the third time this weekend in
doubles. Cocanaugher also won at No. 5 singles.
Varun Munjal won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, while
Crisanto Ramirez won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 6.
Trinity returns home on Saturday to face a pair of
American Southwest Conference teams. The Tigers open the day with
Hardin-Simmons at 9:00 a.m., followed by a match with McMurry at 2:00
p.m. |
