February 23, 2008 Tigers Beat Mary Washington for Fifth Place at ITA Indoors

Trinity's men's tennis team took fifth place at the ITA National Indoor
Championships on Saturday night, beating the University of Mary
Washington 7-2 at Gustavus Adolphus. Trinity (3-3) won two out of three doubles contests, then won five singles matches to take the victory. James Furr and David Tran won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively, and also teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles. Bobby Cocanaugher and Cory Kowal won for the third time this weekend in doubles. Cocanaugher also won at No. 5 singles. Varun Munjal won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, while Crisanto Ramirez won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 6. Trinity returns home on Saturday to face a pair of American Southwest Conference teams. The Tigers open the day with Hardin-Simmons at 9:00 a.m., followed by a match with McMurry at 2:00 p.m. |
