The Tiger men's tennis team finished off a Saturday afternoon
doubleheader with a 9-0 sweep of Schreiner University.
Trinity (5-5) swept all three doubles matches to
start the second match of the day on the right foot. The Tigers
took two of three doubles contests from UT-Dallas earlier in the day.
The Tigers then swept through singles, with all
six players winning in straight sets. Cory Kowal improved to 4-4
on the season, and won his second match at No. 1 singles - making him
2-0 at the top position this year.
Crisanto Ramirez won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and
is now 4-1 on the season, losing in his only match playing at No. 6
singles earlier this year.
Franklin Davis and Michael Breitweiser saw their
first action of the season, while Bryan Leib played his first singles
match in the top six on the year. Davis won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6,
while Breitweister won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Leib, who teamed
with Sam Pohl for a win in doubles earlier this year, won 6-1, 6-0 at
No. 5 singles this afternoon.
Trinity will host the defending junior college
national champions in Laredo Community College next Friday afternoon,
then will have two weeks off before returning to action at home against
Tyler Junior College. |
