Trinity Earns Second Shutout of the Season Saturday

San Antonio – The Tiger men's tennis team finished off a Saturday afternoon doubleheader with a 9-0 sweep of Schreiner University.

Trinity (5-5) swept all three doubles matches to start the second match of the day on the right foot.  The Tigers took two of three doubles contests from UT-Dallas earlier in the day.

The Tigers then swept through singles, with all six players winning in straight sets.  Cory Kowal improved to 4-4 on the season, and won his second match at No. 1 singles - making him 2-0 at the top position this year.

Crisanto Ramirez won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and is now 4-1 on the season, losing in his only match playing at No. 6 singles earlier this year.

Franklin Davis and Michael Breitweiser saw their first action of the season, while Bryan Leib played his first singles match in the top six on the year.  Davis won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6, while Breitweister won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.  Leib, who teamed with Sam Pohl for a win in doubles earlier this year, won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles this afternoon.

Trinity will host the defending junior college national champions in Laredo Community College next Friday afternoon, then will have two weeks off before returning to action at home against Tyler Junior College.
