Trinity's men's tennis team endured its second straight 9-0 loss on
Saturday morning, falling to fourth-ranked UC-Santa Cruz at the ITA
Indoor National Championships. Trinity (2-5)
lost two doubles matches by 8-6 scores, then had two of its singles
contests go to three sets before the Tigers succumbed.
Crisanto Ramirez and Max Frey both took their
opponents to a third set, while John Runge lost 6-7, 6-7 in his No. 5
singles match. Frey fell 2-6, 6-1, 1-6 at No. 1 singles, while
Ramirez lost 4-6, 7-5, 7-10 at No. 6 singles. Frey's loss clinched
the match for UC-Santa Cruz.
Trinity will end its weekend with a matchup
against the University of Mary Washington this evening. Mary
Washington was defeated 6-3 by hosting Gustavus Adolphus College. |
