Trinity's men's tennis team was edged in a 5-4 match against the
University of Incarnate Word on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity (1-3) lost its home opener, despite winning
two out of three doubles matches to start the contest. The Tigers
won just two singles matches, but two others went to a third set.
Don Murray and Ben Carroll scored a narrow 9-7 win
at No. 2 doubles, while Andrew Hoing and Crisanto Ramirez won 8-5 at No.
3 doubles. Hoing also won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
Jose Borges took the only other Trinity point in
the matchup, winning 7-6, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Bobby Cocanougher
lost 2-6, 6-4, 4-6 at No. 2 singles, while John Runge fell 6-7, 6-4, 2-6
at the No. 4 position.
The Tigers take on Texas Lutheran University later
this afternoon to finish off the day's doubleheader. |
