
| Pat Cunningham embarks on his sixth season as Trinity's head
coach, earning three SCAC titles and three NCAA tournament appearances in his first
five years, and holding an overall record of 100-33. Last season, Pat Cunningham led the team to a 24-5 overall record and a second-straight SCAC championship. The Tigers won the title with a win over Oglethorpe in the SCAC Tournament Championship game. After receiving a first-round bye, Trinity lost to Sul Ross State University in the NCAA playoffs. Cunningham has led the team to three playoff appearances, as well as a record of 63-19 in the SCAC - including 37-9 over the past three seasons. Cunningham was the head coach at the University of Chicago from 1991 until he relocated to Trinity. He was the men's head basketball coach from 1987-1991 at Manchester College (Indiana) and was an assistant coach at Illinois State University from 1981 to 1987. Previously at the University of Chicago, Cunningham's teams advanced to the "Sweet Sixteen" of the NCAA Championships twice in a three-year period. He was also named University Athletic Association Coach of the Year three of his last four years at the University of Chicago. During that time, Cunningham's teams compiled a remarkable 82-23 record, including two UAA championships and two runners-up finishes. Cunningham holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kalamazoo College (Mich.) and a Master of Science from Illinois State University. |
