Tigers Open With 16-Point Win Over Colorado College

Pueblo, Colorado - The Trinity men's basketball team won 63-47 over Colorado College in the 2004-05 season opener on Friday at the weekend's 2004 Al Kaly Shrine Classic.

Trinity (1-0) led 35-19 at the half on the strength of eight points and seven boards from senior Peter Murray.  Fellow senior Sean Devins scored seven points in the first half as the pair accounted for nearly half of the team's first-half output.

Senior Andy Bates led the game with 11 points, finishing as the only player in double digits.  Bates also added six rebounds and two assists, and helped the Tigers in shooting 42.6% (26-61) from the field.

Devins finished with nine points and four rebounds to go with two blocks, playing just 13 minutes in the game after getting into foul trouble.  Devins eventually fouled out of the game with 4:31 remaining. 

Senior Chad Stroberg hit both of his three-point attempts to finish with six points, also dishing out two assists.  Jason Morris, a senior and four-year starter, had five points and five boards.  Junior James Lake had a game-high 10 rebounds in eight minutes of play, adding six points.

Trinity held Colorado College to just 32.6% (15-46) shooting.  Max Schuman and Adam Mares each scored nine points to lead the team, while Michael Reich scored eight points and pulled in a team-high seven rebounds.

The Tigers will face hosting Colorado State University-Pueblo tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
