Tigers Even SCAC Record With Win at Hendrix
Conway, Arkansas - Trinity's men's basketball team evened its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference record with a 94-41 victory over Hendrix College on Friday night.
Trinity (9-4) led 50-17 at the half, marking the second straight game that the Tigers have held an opponent to fewer than 20 points in the first half. The Tigers held the Warriors to just 25.9% (14-54) shooting in the game, and shot a blistering 64.9% (37-57) from the floor themselves.
Sean Devins led the Tigers with 17 points in 19 minutes, also adding five blocks and four rebounds, and hitting 8-10 shots. Andy Bates was 5-6 from the field as he scored 14 points in 17 minutes, and also added two assists, two steals, and three blocks.
Jason Morris scored 12 points and handed out six assists in the game, hitting 5-7 from the floor. With his 12 points, Morris moves into a tie for 10th place on Trinity's all-time scoring list. Currently, Morris has 1,224 points, which is tied with Pete Almquist (1984-88) for a spot in the top 10.
Ross Burt and Peter Murray each added nine points in the game, while Casey Hill chipped in with eight points and six boards.
The Tigers will face Rhodes College in continued SCAC action on Sunday afternoon, concluding the four-games-in-seven-days road trip that began with a road win at Howard Payne on Monday. Trinity will return home next Friday and Sunday to face DePauw and Rose-Hulman.
