Trinity Tops Sixth-Ranked Illinois Wesleyan at Tournament

Georgetown, Texas - The Trinity University men's basketball team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University 61-57 at the Southwestern/Trinity Holiday Classic on Thursday evening, finishing 2-0 at the tournament.

Trinity (6-4) was led by senior forward Peter Murray of Arlington (Arlington HS) who led the team with 16 points and seven boards. Murray also added a game-high four steals, and hit 6-8 from the field and 4-6 from the foul line. Senior center Sean Devins of Sugar Land (Clements HS) added 11 points, while seniors Andy Bates of Austin (St. Stephen's) and Chad Stroberg of Southlake (Carroll HS) chipped in with nine points each.

Clinging to a two-point lead in the final seconds, Trinity turned the ball over to give Ohio Wesleyan a chance to tie or win on a final shot.  With only seconds left, Murray stole the ball and threw down a dunk just before the buzzer to seal the four-point win.

Ohio Wesleyan's Ben Chojnacki led all scorers with 21 points, while Dustin Rudegeair added 10 points and three steals.

Trinity's upcoming schedule features four road games next week, including two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference games at Hendrix College and Rhodes College next weekend. The Tigers will not return home until Fri., Jan. 14 against DePauw University.
