Trinity Jumps on Dallas for Fifth Straight Win
Irving, Texas - The Trinity Tiger men's basketball team pulled ahead early and never looked back in an 89-40 victory over the University of Dallas Wednesday night.
Trinity (8-4) led 41-15 at the half, streaking to its fifth consecutive win on the year. The Tigers went ahead 14-2 in the opening minutes of the game, and held Dallas without a field goal for nearly eight minutes at the start. The Crusaders were also held to just 33.3% shooting in the game, including 5-23 (21.7%) in the first half. Trinity hit 32-66 (48.5%) overall from the field, including a scorching 65.2% (15-23) from three-point range.
Casey Hill led all scorers with a career-high 13 points in the game, hitting 4-6 field goals and 4-4 three-pointers. He also had three rebounds in his 22 minutes off the bench.
Jason Morris and Sean Devins each chipped in with nine points in the game, and while Morris added three assists and three steals, Devins pulled in six rebounds and swatted two shots. Both players hit 4-9 from the floor.
Chad Stroberg and Andy Bates also contributed nine points each, while Peter Murray added seven points and six boards. Ross Burt scored eight points in 12 minutes off the bench as well.
Chris Conlan led Dallas with 11 points and four rebounds, hitting 3-8 from the field and 5-5 from the foul line.
Trinity will face Hendrix and Rhodes in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference weekend, beginning Friday. The Tigers are currently 0-1 in league play, losing a road game to Southwestern last month.
