Van Der Kar is SCAC Swimmer of the Year for the Third Straight Season

Suwanee, Georgia - The SCAC Male Swimmer of the Year award winner can be found at Trinity University for the fourth consecutive year, after senior Ryan Van Der Kar earned the honor for the third straight season on Saturday.

Trinity swept both the men's and women's SCAC Championships, as the women's team put up 1,030 points - a new SCAC Championships record.  The women's team also won the three-day event by an unprecedented 294 points over second-place Sewanee, earning another championships meet record.  The men's team also won impressively, holding off defending champs DePauw.  The two teams each won their fourth SCAC titles in the past six seasons.

Van Der Kar won three individual events, as well as being a part of two winning relay teams, including a 400 medley relay that broke a school record.  Van Der Kar also finishes as one of just two swimmers in SCAC history to win four straight years in one event.  He won the 400 individual medley all four seasons, while former Tiger Dylan Stentiford accomplished the feat twice.

Additionally, Van Der Kar has earned NCAA provisional qualifying times in both the 400 IM and the 200 butterfly, and the 400 medley and 800 freestyle relay teams that he was on also earned provisional times.

Van Der Kar accepts his third medal as the SCAC Swimmer of the Year, becoming the first swimmer in SCAC history to accomplish the feat
