Trinity SID Earns Regional Volleyball Award

SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University Sports Information Director Justin Parker has received an award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Parker, who has been the Tigers’ SID for seven years, is the recipient of the regional AVCA Grant Burger Media Award. The national volleyball organization, headquartered in Lexington, Ky., presents the award for excellence in media relations.

In a letter of commendation to Parker, Kathleen J. DeBoer, executive director of the AVCA stated, “Volleyball as a sport has greatly benefited because of your diligence to cover events and matches with much attention to detail and a love for the game. You’ve increased awareness of the sport of volleyball nationwide and we greatly appreciate the commitment you’ve devoted throughout this past volleyball season.”

Parker earned a bachelor’s degree from Trinity in December 1999 in business administration. He served as interim SID in the spring of 2000 before assuming the head position in June of the same year. Parker and his staff are responsible for the coverage of 18 varsity sports at Trinity.
