Saturday's Finals - Results

Trinity's women pushed out to a big win, while the TU men came back from incredible odds to give Trinity both the men's AND women's 2001 SCAC Championships.

In the 1,650 Freestyle, Shannon Clower of Trinity narrowly missed breaking her own record, but did manage to make the NCAA 'B' cut in the race. Meanwhile, on the men's side, Ryan Van Dar Kar - also from Trinity - shattered the SCAC Championship Meet record, also qualifying for the NCAA 'B' pool in the process.

In the 200 Backstroke, Stephanie Walla (Trinity) made the NCAA 'B' cut and would have broken the SCAC record, had she not already done so in the morning prelims. Trinity's Zach Coburn, who was later named the SCAC Men's Swimmer-of-the-Year, finished off the second Trinity sweep of the day with a time of 1:51.57, giving him a qualifying time for the NCAA 'A' pool. This was Coburn's second automatic qualifying time for the NCAA's, as he did the same in the 100 Backstroke.

The 100 Freestyle was won by Sewanee's J.H. Chapman, the Women's Swimmer-of-the-Year in the SCAC, as she made the NCAA 'B' cut. The men's race was won by DePauw's Dan Garrison, who just missed breaking his own record in the SCAC, but did manage to make the NCAA 'B' cut as well.

Christy Jayne of Trinity won the women's 200 Breaststroke with a 'B' cut qualifying time of 2:27.84. Sewanee's Ryan Bouldin also made the 'B' cut in the men's race with a time of 2:09.80.

Christina Pikla (Trinity) and Clint Troxel (DePauw) won the 200 Butterfly Finals, each qualifying in the NCAA 'B' pool. Troxel also set a new SCAC Championship Meet record in the process.

Sewanee closed the meet with a victory in the women's 400 Freestyle Relay, barely beating out Trinity. In the men's race, both Trinity and DePauw qualified in the NCAA 'B' pool, and both posted SCAC record times. Trinity's win gives them the official record, by only .72 seconds.
