San Antonio - Trinity's softball team will head to the University of Redlands for the NCAA Regional Tournament this weekend, as announced by the NCAA today.

Trinity, which holds a 26-20 record this season, will be the No. 5 seed in the tournament, and will face No. 4 seed Linfield College.  Top seed Chapman University, hosts and No. 2 seed Redlands, and No. 3 seed Louisiana College round out the regional.

Trinity qualified for the NCAA playoffs by winning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship on April 24.  The Tigers defeated Centre College twice on the final day to earn the team's fifth overall title.

Linfield won its second straight Northwest Conference Championship to qualify, while Louisiana College and Redlands also earned automatic berths after winning conference tournaments.  Chapman is in as an independent team.

Trinity and Linfield will play at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, with the winner facing top seed Chapman at 2:00 p.m.  The losing team will play the first elimination game of the regional at 4:00 p.m.

The winner of this weekend's regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 20-24.
