Trinity Outlasted by Chapman in 14-Inning Thriller

Pineville, Louisiana - Trinity and Chapman University went toe-to-toe for 13 scoreless innings before Chapman scored a run in the 14th to earn a 1-0 win at the NCAA West Regional Championships Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Louisiana College.

Trinity (25-11) had just seven hits through 14 innings, while Chapman managed 10 hits overall.  The game was an outstanding pitcher's duel as Trinity's Erin Mulvey and Chapman's Maggie Wilder held each opposing offense to just one total run.

Mulvey (15-5) took the loss, striking out four batters and walking just two.  Wilder (15-4) struck out 12 for Chapman to earn the victory and advance to a meeting with top seed Louisiana College this evening.

Lee Smith led Trinity with two hits in six at-bats, and all seven Tiger hits were for singles.

Chapman's Erin Dudzinski drove in the game's only run with a 14th-inning RBI double, scoring SheaLynn Slover from second base.

Trinity will face the loser of the Linfield College/Hardin-Simmons University game that will be played later this afternoon.  That game, which will be an elimination game, will be at noon tomorrow.
