- Trinity's softball team won its third straight Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Championship with a 2-0 shutout victory over Centre
College on Sunday afternoon at Trinity University.
Trinity (25-10) opened the game with a run in the
first inning with two outs, then scored again in the fifth with a clutch
two-out hit.
The first run would be all the Tigers needed,
though, as Erin Mulvey continued her dominating performance at the SCAC
Tournament.
Mulvey improved to 15-4 with her third consecutive
shutout of the weekend on Sunday afternoon, allowing just one hit and
striking out 13 batters.
Jamie Williams and Katie Longacre drove in both
runs for the Tigers, cracking RBI doubles to push the team to the win.
Williams and Kate Wright scored runs for Trinity.
With the win, Trinity receives the league's
automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs, which will begin on May 10.
The full list of participating teams will be selected on May 6. |
