Tournament Ends in Trinity Loss to East Texas Baptist

Tyler, Texas - The Tiger softball team wrapped up its part in the Easton Classic with a 1-3 loss to East Texas Baptist University on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (1-5) and East Texas battled through three scoreless innings to start the game, but Trinity finally broke through with a run in the fourth.  East Texas put together three runs on three hits in the fifth to take the lead for good, though, holding Trinity to just one hit in the final three innings.

Christina Carni finished 2-3 in the game, giving her five hits in eight at-bats on the day.

Jamie Williams led off the fourth inning with her only hit of the game - a double down the left field line.  After advancing to third on a flyout to right, Williams then scored on a sac fly from Caitlin Richards.

Lee Smith accounted for Trinity's fourth hit of the game, as she finished 1-3 against East Texas, and 3-7 for the day.

Karen Fisher (0-2) was charged with the loss, giving up three runs on five hits through six innings of work.  Fisher did walk six batters, but none of those led to runs.

Trinity will face Schreiner University in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, then will host Mary Hardin-Baylor in the 2008 home opener on Saturday afternoon.
